Unfortunately, Icelandic Health Insurance (SÍ) does not cover the cost of bariatric surgery.
The decision on the final price and further explanations are provided during a consultation with a doctor.
Included in the price is a one-night stay in the ward. An additional night costs ISK 94,000.
Some trade unions provide grants that can be used towards surgery or dietary advice.
