Surgery covered by SÍ

Klíníkin has a contract with Icelandic Health Insurance (SÍ) for spinal surgery. If SÍ's conditions are met, Icelandic Health Insurance pays for the surgery and you pay only the patient fee set out in the regulation on co-payments by insured persons. In short, the conditions are that a spinal surgeon has assessed that surgery is the right treatment and you are on the waiting list for surgery, that you are covered by health insurance in Iceland, and that the number of procedures under the year's contract has not been used up – those who have waited longest take priority.

We review your situation at your first appointment and tell you straight away whether and when you are entitled to SÍ coverage. You do not need to work this out yourself.

Don't want to wait?

If you have not yet become entitled to coverage by Icelandic Health Insurance, you can choose to pay for the surgery yourself and have it done sooner. Same team, same operating theatre and same inpatient ward; the only difference is who pays. The price is shown in the price list above.

Please note that under Klíníkin's contract with Icelandic Health Insurance, we are not permitted to perform self-funded surgery on patients who are already entitled to SÍ coverage. We will review your entitlement with you before any decision is made.
