Rehabilitation that starts immediately
The physiotherapists of Klíníkin work in close cooperation with orthopaedic surgeons, surgeons, nurses, and other healthcare professionals of Klíníkin. Therefore, we can begin rehabilitation immediately after surgery – often in the ward on the same day – and follow up with you until you have reached the targeted goal.
The facilities are excellent: large and bright treatment rooms and a spacious exercise room with the latest equipment. The room is equipped with HUR machines, Finnish training devices that use air pressure instead of weights. The load is adjusted in small increments from practically nothing, and the movement is smooth and even, making the equipment especially well-suited immediately after surgery, for older people, and for those who are starting again after a long break.
Physiotherapy is open to anyone with a doctor's referral – not only to those undergoing surgery with us.

Prices
Icelandic Health Insurance (SÍ) participates in the cost of physiotherapy upon referral from a doctor. Our patients undergoing surgery receive the referral automatically.
From September 1st, 2026, a visit fee will be charged for each visit according to the regulations of the Ministry of Health: general fee ISK 1,500, elderly (67 years and older) ISK 1,000, disability pensioners ISK 500, and children under 18 years old ISK 0. This applies equally to individual and group therapy.
More information about patient co-payments can be found on the Icelandic Health Insurance website, sjukra.is.
Referral for physiotherapy. In order for Icelandic Health Insurance (SÍ) to participate in the cost, a request from a doctor is required. Patients undergoing surgery at Klíníkin receive the request automatically – others can obtain it from their GP or specialist.
First appointment. A physiotherapist examines you, assesses the situation, and sets goals in consultation with you. After surgery, this usually begins immediately in the inpatient ward.
Treatment and follow-up. Frequency depends on need, usually 1–2 times a week in the beginning. Home exercises are part of the treatment, and you will receive an exercise plan to work on between appointments. When appropriate, group training in the HUR gym takes over.
