Kristján Skúli Ásgeirsson

Kristján Skúli is a specialised breast surgeon, MS, FRCSEd (Gen Surg), and one of the few Icelandic surgeons specialised in oncoplastic breast surgery. In a single procedure, he often removes breast cancer and simultaneously performs breast reconstruction.

Kristján prides himself on personal service in the field of breast surgery. He has a special interest and extensive experience in providing specialised counselling and performing prophylactic surgeries for women at high risk of breast cancer due to known mutations in breast cancer genes (BRCA1 or BRCA2) or a strong family history of breast cancer.

In addition to offering all types of traditional cosmetic breast procedures, such as breast augmentations and breast reductions, Kristján Skúli offers specialised services for women who wish to have breast implants removed and achieve the best possible aesthetic outcome afterwards.

He also dedicates significant time to the diagnosis and treatment of benign breast conditions and performs corrective surgeries on women who have previously undergone surgery for breast cancer.

Kristján Skúli currently works part-time at The Nottingham Breast Institute, one of the oldest and most prestigious specialised breast units in the UK, and part-time at Klíníkin Ármúla.

He completed his undergraduate medical studies in 1996 at the University of Iceland's Faculty of Medicine and his Master's degree at the same institution in 1999. During his Master's studies, he conducted research based on basic cancer research.

Kristján Skúli then moved to the UK, where he completed his specialist training in general surgery and was also a clinical lecturer at the University of Nottingham from 2002 to 2006. He specialised in breast surgery, and in 2006 he was awarded a highly coveted fellowship position in oncoplastic breast surgery by the British Association of Plastic Surgeons (BAPS) and the Association of Breast Surgery (ABS). Only nine such positions are awarded annually in the UK.
Kristján Skúli has worked as a specialist in breast surgery since 2007.

He has written many articles in peer-reviewed journals, particularly on breast cancer and oncoplastic breast surgery. In recent years, he has been a leader for the Nordic Breast Surgeons (NORBS), which aims to increase specialisation in the education and training of young surgeons in this field. He has organised numerous conferences, taught extensively, and delivered many presentations on breast surgery at international conferences.
