Jón Ívar Einarsson
Specialist in obstetrics and gynaecology
Jón Ívar is a Professor at Harvard Medical School and the founder of the Division of Minimally Invasive Gynaecologic Surgery at Brigham and Women's Hospital in Boston. He graduated with a medical degree from the University of Iceland in 1995 and completed his residency in obstetrics and gynaecology at Baylor College of Medicine. He also completed a 2-year fellowship in minimally invasive gynaecologic surgery at the same institution, as well as a Master of Public Health degree from the Harvard School of Public Health. He also completed a PhD from the University of Iceland in 2013.
For nearly 20 years, Jón Ívar has performed complex gynaecological laparoscopic surgeries and has extensive experience in surgeries for severe endometriosis, as well as procedures such as hysterectomy, myomectomy, and uterine/vaginal suspension. Jón Ívar has also published over 200 articles and abstracts in peer-reviewed journals and has published a textbook in the field. He has won numerous awards, including the "Distinguished Surgeon Award" from the Society of Gynaecologic Surgeons in 2020. He has performed live surgeries and taught in numerous countries across 5 continents, and also holds patents for 11 medical devices currently in development. Jón Ívar is also the former president of the world's largest association (AAGL) in minimally invasive gynaecologic surgery.
At Klíníkin, Jón Ívar will perform all major gynaecological surgeries, such as hysterectomies, myomectomies, surgeries for severe endometriosis (excision), uterine/vaginal suspensions, ovarian cyst removals, oophorectomies, salpingectomies, laparoscopic cerclage, as well as hysteroscopies and diagnostic laparoscopies.
